Well what an awesome weekend all round,
The Tour finished with a thrilling mountain top on the 2nd to last stage, the 24 Hour World Champs were won by Jason English, with a Bronze to Andrew Fellows and numerous other medals and placings by the Aussie contingent. On this side of the World www.ftptraining.comriders dominated in all disciplines at the State ITT Champs and the State Short Course and XC MTB Champs.
First up with the win was Josh (weasley) Carlson when he dominated the Short Course State Champs on the Saturday, nearly lapping the whole field!! On the Sunday Josh was involved in a battle royal with the Rockstar rider Hamish Elliott. It went toe to toe for the whole race until Hamish created a small gap on the last climb and managed to hold off a charging Josh for the win. In the U17’s the race was dominated by FTP rider Daniel McDonald and he came home with the win by over 2.5 minutes great riding from a young gun with a great future ahead of him. Special props to the Binder Crew as well taking out Golds in the Masters Women and U15 girls awesome result from a talented family.
On the road this weekend FTP Training had 2 riders competing in the Masters 5 and 2 ITT Champs at Calga. Bruce Williams dominated in a classy field and came away with the win covering the 22km course in a blistering 30.24. Then yours truly smashed out a great ITT winning by over a minute covering the 22km in 29.12. All went very well indeed and although I went out possibly a little hard the numbers were there at the end with a Average power of 350 watts for the race. Considering I have only been back n the bike for 5 weeks after a couple of months off I am very happy indeed and all is looking good for the Maters Nats and Worlds later in the year.
There is going to be a heap of exciting news coming out later this week with a TORQ/FTP training camp being run in early December in Mt Beauty and a special FTP race weekend in late September. Keep your eye on www.ftptraining.com for further details later in the week.
